  • CE in Fort Worth

Credit Hours: 16 Hours Approved

COURSE INFORMATION

The Fort Worth CE program provides education that is vital to professionals as they pursue the process of life-long learning while also meeting the requirements for re-licensure by state boards of Optometry. The Fort Worth program is a two day, 16 hour program that offers COPE approved continuing education. For Texas practitioners, it also includes the one hour required Professional Responsibility Course.

This year's CE in Fort Worth program will offer new experiences and opportunities! In addition to dynamic speakers with the latest clinical research, participants can look forward to:

  • Meeting UHCO's new CE in Forth Worth CourseMaster, Sheila Morrison, OD, MS

    • Dr. Morrison is an Assistant Professor at the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO), where she serves as the Director of the Cornea and Contact Lens Service (CCLS). She is also a clinical instructor in the CCLS and is a designated provider for the UHCO Myopia Control Clinic. Her teaching and lecture interests include specialty contact lens and anterior segment related topics, and she has research involvement within the Ocular Surface Institute (TOSI). Dr. Morrison is also a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society. We are excited to welcome her to CE in Fort Worth as our CourseMaster and know you'll love her as much as we do!

  • Hands-on workshop options

    • Join leading educators and experts in a scleral lens workshop The Perfect Pair: Anterior Imaging and Scleral Lenses hosted by Optovue, Metro Optics, and TelScreen. This hands-on workshop is designed to build confidence with scleral lens fitting for normal and compromised corneas. In today’s market, scleral lenses are here to stay. Participants will gain an understanding of how to utilize slit lamps, anterior eye imaging, and anterior segment OCT to fit scleral lenses with great precision and efficiency. Application and removal skills, enhanced slit lamp techniques, and modern fitting techniques will all be taught to attendees.
    • Instructors: Dr. Matthew Kauffman, OD, FAAO, FSLS; Dr. Sheila D. Morrison, OD, MS, FAAO, FSLS; Dr. Roya Habibi, OD, FAAO, FSLS

  • Happy hour with Optovue and Metro Optics!

    • Immediately following the Saturday program, Optovue and Metro Optics will host drinks at the hotel bar for course participants.

  • OCT auction

    • Optovue will host a silent auction of the iVue OCT System. The iVue OCT System is a powerful clinical tool that transforms the way you assess the retina, optic disc and the cornea. Quantify the thickness of the retina, nerve fiber layer, ganglion cell complex and the cornea. Track change and predict trends in RNFL and GCC thickness and precisely measure angles or lenses to aid in disease diagnosis. All available software and upgrades are included to date, 4 review licenses, and a full manufacturer warranty. Estimated value: $42,950.
    • 10% of the purchase price will be donated to UHCO's Dean's Excellence Fund which allows the Dean to respond and react to urgent and immediate needs such as equipment and technological needs, recruitment and retention of exceptional faculty in critical or emerging areas, academic opportunities for meritorious students, community partnerships, innovative research, new and underfunded programs, and special projects.
    • The auction will open on Saturday morning and close after lunch on Sunday. The lucky winner will be announced immediately following the last break on Sunday. Please make silent bids at the Optovue booth.
