SPEAKER INFORMATION

About The Benedict Professorship

The Benedict Professorship in Practice Management and Administration was established in 1982 by a generous endowment provided by Mr. Bill Benedict and Family. The purpose of the professorship is to provide education and consultation for optometrists, professional students, residents, faculty and staff in the areas of practice management and administration. The professorship is expressly intended to focus on the independent practice of optometry.

Bob Schultz

As the President and CEO of Vision One Credit Union and Board Member of The Practice Management Center, Bob Schultz has been selected as the University of Houston College of Optometry’s 2018-2019 Benedict Professor in Practice Management and Administration. Through his role at Vision One Credit Union, Mr. Schultz has been personally involved with more than 400 private optometric practice ownership transitions valued over $300 million. He led the development of loan and deposit programs designed specifically to help ODs enter practice ownership, increase practice value, and execute exit strategies. Vision One Credit Union was founded in 1951 as a non-profit, member only financial institution owned by independent optometry. Their services and unique expertise with optometric practices have helped thousands of practices build value and wealth for OD owners. The Practice Management Center was founded to simplify the practice transition process for buyers and sellers. The PMC pioneered the “SMART MATCH” process. Guiding principles include transparency, fairness, reduced costs, and successful practice transitions. The PMC is owned and operated by the Association of Practice Management Educators (APME), a non-profit organization whose members are from the optometric colleges.
