COURSE INFORMATION

CE in Fort Worth provides education that is vital to professionals as they pursue the process of life-long learning while also meeting the requirements for re-licensure by state boards of Optometry. This two day, 16 hour program offers COPE approved continuing education, including the one hour Professional Responsibility Course for Texas Optometrists.

 

Hosted by CourseMaster Marcus Gonzales, OD, FAAO, the following topics will take place:

SPEAKER INFORMATION

 

Marcus Gonzales, OD, FAAO, CourseMaster

Dr. Gonzales received his undergraduate degree at Baylor University and completed his OD degree at the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2006. He then went on to complete an ocular disease residency at the now Cedar Springs Eye Clinic (formerly Bridge Builders) in Dallas, TX. He currently serves as the clinic director of the inner-city charity clinic caring for a diseased, indigent population.  He was named the 2009 Educator of the Year by the Texas Optometric Association, and he received a President’s Award in 2011. He is a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and his interests are in ocular disease, specifically glaucoma and retinal disease.

 

 

 


 

 

Jeffry Gerson, OD, FAAO

Dr. Gerson graduated from Indiana University school of Optometry in 1997, after which he went on to do a VA residency concentrating in low vision and ocular disease.  He has been in several different practice settings, including a retina referral practice where he participated in several large clinical trials. Currently, Dr. Gerson is in private practice that is a collaboration of both ODs and MDs.  He sees primary care patients and has an emphasis on retinal care in his practice.  He enjoys having 4th year optometry interns with him and the challenges that they present.  He still participates in clinical trials and utilizes many different diagnostic modalities. Dr. Gerson is a frequent lecturer in the US and abroad, and writes regularly for optometric publications.

 

 

 


 

Andrew Kemp, OD, FAAO

Dr. Kemp graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2010 and the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2014. Dr. Kemp completed an ocular disease residency at the Cedar Springs Eye Clinic in Dallas, Texas, a UHCO-affiliated community clinic. Dr. Kemp is now on faculty at the Cedar Springs Eye Clinic and the Community Eye Clinic in Fort Worth, Texas, working with fourth year optometry externs and residents. Dr. Kemp is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and his interests include glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and specialty contact lenses.

 

 

 


 

 

Vladislav Koyfman, OD

Dr. Koyfman was born in Ukraine and grew up in Brooklyn New York. He attended undergrad at Penn State University, studying Chemistry and Math. Dr. Koyfman received my masters at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom in Drug Discovery and Design. He attended the Inter American University of Puerto Rico for Optometry and graduated Magna Cum Laude in the class of 2016. He owns a private practice in White Plains, New York, and is a past resident of UHCO’s Cedar Springs Eye Clinic in Dallas, Texas.

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

 

Zanna Kruoch, OD, FAAO

Dr. Kruoch graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry with a Doctorate of Optometry in 2009. She completed a residency with a specialty in advance contact lenses and corneal disease in 2010 at the Illinois College of Optometry. Currently, Dr. Kruoch is Clinical Faculty for a UHCO-affiliated community clinic, Cedar Springs Eye Care, where she works with 4th year optometry students. Dr. Kruoch is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry, and was recently named Texas Optometric Association Educator of the year. Her clinical interests include specialty contact lens and ocular disease.

 

 

 


 

Nikolaos Zagorianos, OD 

Dr. Zagorianos joined Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers in 2015 as a consultative optometrist. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas, and his optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry. He completed his residency in Ocular Disease at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. He focuses on the medical management of eye disorders, including glaucoma, dry eye and pre-and post-operative care. Dr. Zagorianos has received letters of clinical excellence and taught courses on ocular anatomy and ocular disease to pre-optometry students. TEXOCOP granted him the “Most Outstanding Instructor Award” for two years in a row. He has been honored with several other awards including the Allergan Ocular Disease Resident Fellowship, HOYA Vision Care Scholarship, Varilux Award of Excellence, Ocular Instruments Ocular Disease Award of Excellence, and the Contamac Contact Lens Induced Related Disease Award. Dr. Zagorianos is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and a member of the American Academy of Optometry, the American Optometric Association, the Greater Louisville Optometric Society and the Kentucky Optometric Association.
