  • A Review of Prisms for the General Practice Optometrist

During this lecture, practitioners will review the basics of prism, learn new or different ways of measuring prism amounts and prescribing prism, and learn how they can incorporate prism quickly and easily into their practices.

 

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Review the different types of prisms
  • Learn different ways of prescribing prism
  • Learn multiple methods of measuring prism amounts and when each method may be appropriate
  • Identify when prism is not sufficient and a referral is warranted

Biography:
Nicole Auchter Riese, OD graduated with high honors with a Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University in May 2015. She subsequently completed a primary care optometric residency at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Administration Medical Center in 2016. The residency encompassed rotations in primary care, ocular disease, low vision and traumatic brain injury. She currently works as a staff optometrist at the Beaumont Veterans Administration Outpatient Clinic in Beaumont, Texas.
