Comprehensive review of pregnancy related ocular complications associated with pre-existing ocular disease as well as systemic conditions that may arise or become exacerbated during gestation.
Course Objective: Obtain a better understanding of ocular complications that may occur during pregnancy, so that as primary eye care providers, an optometrist is better equipped to co-manage the patient.
Bhagya Segu , OD, MPH, FAAO
Dr. Bhagya Segu graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry in 1997. Subsequently she received her Master's in Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health. She continued her education at the Universityof Houston College of Optometry receiving her doctorate degree in 2004. Dr. Segu completed her residency in hospital-based optometry at the Hudson Valley Veterans Administration Health Care System in New York and holds a therapeutic license in the state of Texas with glaucoma privileges. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a member of the National Association of VA Optometrists. Dr. Segu is currently a staff Optometrist at the Michael E. Debakey Veterans Adminstration Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Her interests include hiking, reading, and playing with her dog Cookie.
