Registration Fee Policy

We are pleased to offer a variety of registration fee options to our participants not enrolling in our entire program.  Fees listed are the only options available for this program.  No other discounts or fee reductions apply.  All program participants, regardless of the fee selected, enjoy the following benefits: course notes for all lectures, breakfast, coffee breaks and lunch, the option to complete Continuing Education with Examination (CEE) at no extra charge, when available, as well as direct reporting to the Texas Optometry Board, COPE and Florida CE Broker and a certificate of completion.

Registration payment must be received by the UHCO CE Office in full prior to the course date. Early bird fees must be received no later than the deadlines listed on the registration form. If payment is not received on or before that date, regular registration fees will apply.

Walk-in registrations are accepted at most programs; however, an additional fee will be applied.

CE Credit Information

In order to receive credit for each lecture session in a course, participants must sign in and obtain an attendance form which must be verified at the end of the last session attended. Participants must be present no later than 5 minutes after the start time for each session. Late arrivals and/or early departures will be notated and credit will only be issued for time spent in class.

An educational monitor will be present at each session to verify CE attendance. Forms provided for this purpose can only be verified as participants leave the session. Hours cannot be verified at a later time.

Notification of Hours

Verification of continuing education hours for Texas licensees will be sent directly to the Texas Optometry Board within 4 weeks after the course presentation date. Verification of continuing education hours for out-of-state licensees is sent directly to each participant. Out-of-state licensed participants are responsible for notifying their state board of the continuing education hours earned at a UHCO program.

All participants will receive an attendance verification letter within 4 weeks after a course is completed. If you are licensed in several states and need additional attendance letters, please notify the UHCO CE Office as soon as possible. Rush-order CE Attendance Verification Letters are available by request. Contact the on-site CE staff member for rush-order letters. A permanent transcript is maintained by UHCO for all CE participants for up to 5 years after the course presentation date.

COPE

The University of Houston College of Optometry is a COPE Qualified Administrator. Courses will be submitted for COPE approval when the format meets COPE criteria. As a COPE Administrator, UHCO CE is required to report COPE qualified CE hours to the ARBO OE Tracker System. COPE does not allow partial hour credit. Attendees must be present for the entire COPE course in order to receive credit.

CEE Credit

Continuing Education with Examination Credit (CEE) is available for select UHCO CE Programs. Please contact the UHCO CE Office at 713.743.1900 or via email at optce@uh.edu for a list of CEE lectures.

Cancellation Policy

The College reserves the right to cancel any program two weeks in advance if registration is inadequate. In the event that the program is cancelled by the University of Houston, registrants are notified immediately, and all program fees will be refunded. Individual cancellations will be taken at any time. However, cancellation fees apply. For complete details and to cancel a registration contact the UHCO CE Office at 713.743.1900.

Semester Breaks

During each semester break, the university conducts electrical and server maintenance; therefore, UHCO cannot guarantee that the online CE system will be available during the break and that submissions will be received and processed.

We recommend that participants complete their coursework on or before DECEMBER 16th to ensure access to our online system before the calendar year ends.
